The consequences of sin are severe when one disobeys God. Doesn't matter who that person is. When one does not fulfill the purposes of God, that disobedience, that rebelliousness, is going to bring about great suffering and pain, both inwardly emotionally but also physically. Now God is gracious. The Bible says that he is slow to anger, but eventually God will say enough.
